On 22nd November, the TechTwirls team had the honor of attending the 2024 AkiraChix Pitch Day. AkiraChix is an incredible organization with a mission that aligns closely with ours. They run a school that equips high school graduates from across Africa with coding and tech skills and helps them secure careers in the tech industry. Their work is truly making a difference in shaping the next generation of innovators.

One of the most exciting parts of the day was seeing the amazing project presentations by the students. Their creativity and ability to solve real-world problems through tech were nothing short of inspiring. It was a powerful reminder of just how much potential young people have when given the right opportunities and support.

For us at TechTwirls, this event was more than just attending it was a chance to:

• Learn from an established initiative doing incredible work.
• Connect with students, mentors, and other professionals passionate about tech.
• Get Inspired with new ideas to grow our outreach and mentorship efforts for young girls in Kenya and beyond.

A big thank you to Linda Kamau and the AkiraChix team for hosting such a well-organized and impactful event. Seeing the students’ hard work and innovation firsthand, as well as the amazing vision behind AkiraChix, really reinforced the importance of tech education in transforming lives.

We’re excited to take what we learned and apply it to our work at TechTwirls. Stay tuned—we have so much more planned as we continue empowering young girls and building a more inclusive tech industry!
